Lainie Kazan

I just saw Lainie Kazan in Ugly Betty. First, let me say that I have loved Lainie since the very first time I saw her in My Favorite Year when I was just 12 or 13. I have always considered her to be one of the most fabulous broads EVER!

Sooooo, oh, Lainie, Lainie, Lainie. Your face. Why did you do that to your fantastic face? You didn't need to, really you didn't. You're better than that and I was so sad to see you all pulled and puffed and tweaked like that. You're beautiful and beauty like yours is timeless. Or was.

Sure, after a certain age, sometimes we all look in the mirror and don't quite recognize the woman looking back at us. Well, I do. For me, it' my mother and, while I think my mother is a lovely woman, I would prefer to see myself in the mirror. However, I am who I am and I would rather recognize parts of myself that are still truly me and not parts that are, well, parts!

Ladies, don't change yourself. Please. You are amazing and fabulous and deserve to be exactly, precisely who and what you are. And you deserve to revel in that.

Insincerity

My rant about insincerity which also includes a brief and not particularly noteworthy appearance by Phoenix the Cat.
